about Kate Starling…
Kate Starling Copywriting was born from a desire to find a more flexible way of working. I began as a senior marketing consultant and writer for two small start-ups. Then, through word-of-mouth, the business grew to include a broad variety of writing work for production houses, agencies, publishers, charities, schools and many different FMCG and business service companies.
Before I made the solo move, I was Group Project Director with a leading consultancy, managing and directing the company’s marketing clients including Unilever, Continental Tyres and Tetra Pak. During this time, I directed operations for several live, multi-country events and conferences and wrote all the marketing copy for more than 25 clients.
I’ve developed strategic marketing programmes for many businesses and built 20 years’ consumer and business to business marketing knowledge via agency and client-side jobs. I’ve worked across Europe and the Middle East with agencies including DDB as a Senior Account Manager and with the Tussauds Group as a Marketing Executive
Throughout my professional life, I’ve always written for individuals – from corporate poetry (milestones, conferences and retirements) to treasure hunts for children’s birthday parties and from short stories commissioned for loved ones to TV and media profiles for company directors. I’ve written several rhyming stories for young children, have published children’s poems and have written opinion pieces for a variety of different publications.
Recent commissions include creative writing work for:
- The World Wildlife Fund for Earth Hour 2010
- Press work in celebration of the wonderful, award-winning Riverford Organic
- Press writing for the creative (and also award-winning) Ear Productions
I am immensely proud of all my clients and am delighted to say that I enjoy long-term relationships with them.
